“Bad Dancer” Vinyl 45 Release

We have two brand new songs coming out this month that we can’t wait to share with you all. “Bad Dancer” premiered this week on Paste Magazine and you can now download or stream it right here on SonsOfBill.com. It will officially be released through our good friends at WarHen Records as Side A of a vinyl 45 (with “Higher Than Mine”, another brand new song, on Side B) on 4/20 to celebrate Record Store Day.

You can pre-order the vinyl now through the store on SonsOfBill.com. We’ll also be playing an acoustic in-store performance at Sidetracks Music in Charlottesville on that day, signing and selling Vinyl 45′s along with tickets to our show at the Jefferson Theater May 4th. This is absolutely free to attend. Come join us if you’re in Charlottesville, or go out and support your local record stores across the country for Record Store Day.

Spring Tour Announced

We’ve made it back from overseas and weathered the winter here in Virginia. Looks like it’s time to hit the road again. We’ll be playing Richmond, VA on February 15th and then the Spring Tour 2013 officially gets rolling Friday March 15th at The 8 x 10 in Baltimore, MD. From there we’ll be all up and down the East Coast from Florida to New England, coming through the heartland up to Chicago and Minneapolis, and as far west as Midland, TX. We’re in Germany!

Here we sit, in the delightful dining room of the Hotel Pacific in Hamburg, Germany. In about 10 hours we’ll be playing our first show for a room full of fresh-faced young Germans in Bordesholm. The desk clerk at the Pacific told us not to worry if the audiences don’t seem enthusiastic, Germans prefer to “party on the inside.”

This week we released a brand new live album entitled With Kerosene Instead and Paste Magazine is offering it as a free download! Ever since Sirens came out in March, we have been on the road almost non-stop. There have been some great shows and luckily we managed to catch some of the best ones on tape. Daytrotter Session Released

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of stopping by the Horseshack studio in Rock Island, IL and recording a session for Daytrotter. We recorded a brand new song that Abe had just written and then added on rearrangements of two favorites off Sirens and a classic 80′s REM gem.

This marks Sons of Bill’s official tip-toeing into the shallow end of the endless, murky abyss of blogging. We’ve spent the last several years trying to divine the purpose and/or appeal of these uncensored and unedited rivers of rant that now populate the web. I can’t say that we’ve come much closer to an answer, but we may finally have had our “how I learned to stop worrying and love the blog” moment. Not that we love it yet, but we’re at least willing to give it try.

Most of our other online outlets are fairly speak-as-a-band oriented so we’ll try to keep this one a little more personal. For that reason, opinions expressed on this Tumble cannot be taken as the opinion of everyone in Sons of Bill. There is little that we do better or more consistently than disagree. About pretty much everything. For that reason, we’ll be including by-lines at the bottom of each post. Expect all kinds of interesting blather from all five of us. You can find a formal introduction to our blog here, or just jump in midstream at sonsofbill.tumblr.com.

European and Midwest Tour Dates

We’re happy to announce that Sons of Bill will be going to Europe in November and December of this year. We’ve got two weeks of shows in Germany right now and may be adding more in the Netherlands and the UK. However, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we should also note that we’ll be heading through the heartland of our own country again in May and June. We have shows in Illinois, Texas, Colorado and a few other spots already on the books and we’ll be adding more soon. The full schedule of dates can be found on our Tour Dates page. Hope to see you out on the road.
