Makin’ It Through The Night

Life it seems to keep on drifting
In steady steps of nine to five
And you’re out lookin for redemption
From a past you couldn’t seem to leave behind

Through the smoke filled mist between us
And with that neon moon above
A lonely heart and cheap liquor
Sometimes is the closest thing you have to love

So take his picture off your dresser
And leave your halo on the wall
Keep your makeup, but take up everything
That made you ever give a damn at all

And in the morning you’ll regret me
But my face will fade in time
Our lonely roads will keep on winding
We’re just meeting at the crossroads to say goodbye
