To the Best Hometown Around: Thanks Again

Posted August 21, 2009

For the third year in a row, the readers of C-ville Weekly have named Sons of Bill the Best Band in Charlottesville. (Technically, this year the category was called “Best Musical Act Other Than DMB” and the first year we won it was called “Best Rock Band” or something, but who’s counting?) Just another reminder (after the awesome Paramount show a few months back) that it just means so much to have the support of your hometown. Shout out to runners up The Hill & Wood and to our friend Joya McMurray (who hasn’t given me a free drink in over two years, but we’ll let that one slide) for winning best bartender. Thank you all again and we’ll see everyone soon.
rocking with smiles on our faces,

Fall Tour Announced!

Posted August 13, 2009

SoB’s Far and Wide,

We’ve just added a bunch of new tour dates for the Fall. There’ll be more added in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the website. A sneak preview for those who pay attention to the updates: we’ll be doing some shows with two of our heros (one a former Drive-By Trucker, the other a former roommate of Lyle Lovett) in the late Fall, so be sure to catch those when they get announced.

Live Recordings: Incoming

Posted August 5, 2009

Consider this your warning: Sons of Bill have recently assembled a top-notch mobile recording setup which we are now taking on the road with us.

The result of this is that we will soon have all kinds of opportunities for people like you to get a regular serving of some fresh out the cooker live SoB tracks! Methods of dissemination are still being discussed, but we’ll be announcing all live releases (many for free!) through both Twitter and our email list. You can sign up to follow our Twitter by clicking this link, or there’s a link to sign the email list on the bottom right hand corner of all pages on SonsOfBill.com.

Until we get some SoB-approved tracks ready for consumption, we’ll whet your appetite with a top-notch recording of “Charleston” tracked by Mr Vinton Fountain of the Outer Banks Brewing Station last Saturday night. Check out his MySpace page to listen. Now wipe that drool off your mouth and clear your plate, ’cause there’ll be plenty more where that came from in the next month or so.
