New Website, Gigs, and more

We’re happy to announce that the new sonsofbill.com is finally up and running. Special thanks to Cameron at BA21 for that. Keep checkin’ back as we’ll be updating things often. There has been a whole lot goin’ down with SOB in these past few months, but we’ll try to fill you in on the high-lights.

We’re really excited now be working with Tammy Brackett at Moonstruck promotions www.moonstruckpromotions.com In addition to booking and promotions, Tammy is somewhat filling the much needed maternal role in Sons of Bill, sending us recipes for broke musicians and making sure I write my papers before I get on with the rockin’. Solid folks who care about people and the music more than the bottom-line are hard to come by in the music-biz, and we’re really glad we found one at Moonstruck.

In other news, we are down to our last couple copies of the first pressing of A Far Cry from Freedom. Thanks to everyone who bought the record. All of your support keeps it possible for us to be bringing you the music. As we were getting ready to press our second 1000 CD’s, we all decided that we really needed to take the record to the next level, and decided to re-mix it with Chris Kress after hearing his work with DMB and the Wrinkle Neck Mules. The record is being Mastered in Nashville as we speak, and the record will be available in a matter of weeks.

Finally, as we’re on the road more and more these days, we’re really lookin’ to put together a street team in the following cities: Blacksburg, Richmond, DC, Raleigh, Harrisonburg, Norfolk, Chapel Hill, and pretty much everywhere in the region. We’re lookin for folks who can put up fliers, pass out hand bills and promo discs, and just generally get the word out when we’re coming through town. I don’t know what we can offer you other than guest passes to the shows and hangin’ out with the band before hand if you can tolerate us. If you’d like to join the ranks, please send us a message with your location and contact info.

Other than that, we’re just gettin’ by on gettin’ by as Jerry Jeff would say—living on chicken fingers and cheap bourbon, makin enough for gas and new guitar strings. We’re all writing like crazy, so we’ll be squeezing in the new songs bit by bit into our live show, so keep checkin’ our Myspace site for new live tracks. Hope to see everyone at the shows!

The road goes on forever and the party never ends,
James

Sons of Bill on Miles of Music

Posted November 2, 2006

A Far Cry From Freedom has just recently been selected to be a “cracker” in Miles of Music’s independent music section. Miles of Music is a great website for Alt/country/americana retail and they’re a great way for independent country musicians to get their name out there. If you all are interested in purchasing A Far Cry from Freedom online, please order through them. They are great people, and are helping out a lot of great bands. (and thanks to them we currently have small followings in both Madrid and the Netherlands.)
